Here are some ideas for fabulous luxury weddings on Lake Maggiore.
Travelling to Lake Maggiore
Both Lake Maggiore and Lake Como are very convenient for the Milan airports, so Malpensa or Bergamo.
Smaller wedding – up to 100 people
There are lots of combinations of venues that can be put together to create a really interesting wedding that will thrill your guests with a variety of stunning Italian settings. Here is an example:
Base Hotel –
This is Grand Hotel Borromees, the premier hotel and wedding venue on Lake Maggiore. It is five star and has 180 bedrooms. So it can host large wedding groups in considerable style. The gardens go right to the lakeside and there is a boat launch so we can arrange trips to the nearby islands. It is in the lovely town of Stresa and there are bars, restaurants and other hotels within a very short walk.
Welcome party –
Skybar, Stresa. This dramatic rooftop bar is on top of the hotel next to Hotel Borromees. You can walk between the two in just a few minutes. This hotel is also very good for extra accommodation. The views from the sky bar are enormous and very beautiful. The sky bar is good for events with up to about 100 people. They can provide cocktails and light food.
Wedding ceremony –
Isola Bella: Hotel Borromees has a private boat launch where a boat arranged by Love Italy Weddings can collect your group for the short trip to Isola Bella. Here we can arrange a ceremony for you for a group of up to 100 people on a terrace looking over the lake or on a lawn in the botanical gardens. Please see this short video showing around the island.
Alternativly, in front of the hotel is a large sweeping lawn that goes right down to the lake and is perfect for wedding ceremonies.
Wedding reception and accommodation –
Stresa is a really lovely lakeside town, full of bars, restaurants and nice shopping. It is small enough to be accessible easily on foot but big enough to keep people happily entertained for a few days. The best hotel and wedding venue in Stresa is Grand Hotel Borromees, which is one of our favourite venues in all of Italy and where we have created many beautiful weddings. The hotel has 180 bedrooms so can accommodate large groups. Also, it is within a few minute walk of several other hotels which can offer overflow, or more economical options.
Hotel Borromees has excellent catering and very elegant dining spaces. Large groups can be accommodated. There are also smaller rooms, perfect for more intimate gatherings.
Hotel Borromees also has great party spaces with a deluxe, 5 star night club which is sound-proof allowing for late night revelry. There is also a outdoor poolside pavilion which makes a good outdoor party area.
Larger Wedding – more than 100 people
Isola Bella can accommodate up to 100 guests. For larger weddings you can consider Rocca di Angara for your ceremony. It can also be used for the reception. This is a beautiful Italian castle with tremendous views over the lake. It is reached with a boat trip or a coach.
Hotel Borromees can also accommodate large receptions and ceremonies, giving you a nice choice.
