Wedding in a grand abbey. This historic and very beautiful abbazia (abbey) has been repurposed and is now a very atmospheric wedding venue. Geographically it is, more or less, on the border of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. We are categorising it here under Lazio/Rome because the easiest airport to use for getting here is Rome’s Fiumicino which is about a 1.5 hour drive.
If your guest numbers are in the hundreds a wedding in a grand abbey could be a very elegant solution.
As a wedding venue the abbey is a flexible venue with a variety of wonderful spaces. It can actually host up to 500 guests in style and comfort but can also be arranged in such a way as to make it feel cozy for 100.
The Abbey allows you to organise an exclusive wedding reception for a considerable number of people: the church alone, in fact, is able to accommodate up to 500 comfortably seated guests.
During the hottest periods of the year, the suggestive cloister can be used for a banquet set up in the open air.
Once inhabited by Cistercian monks, the Abbey is today an enchanting wedding location where you can let yourself be fascinated by the spirituality of its walls and organise an unforgettable event for you and your many guests.
There are 33 rooms at the abbey which is now a very nice hotel with a swimming pool and excellent facilities. There are lots more great accommodation options, including large hotels, in nearby Rieti, which is a nice town with a lively central square.
